Summit hike Geiranger

Experience Geiranger from the top

From Union, we are surrounded by some of the most impressive peaks in the Sunnmøre Alps.

Every day, experienced guides assess the weather, snow and avalanche conditions and adapt the tour accordingly – it might be iconic peaks like Laushornet, Blåhornet and Geitfonnegga, or more hidden gems in the Geiranger mountains.

After your stay, you return home with memorable experiences, new skills, and a deep sense of fjord serenity.

Stay at Union Geiranger

Lower your shoulders in Union Spa, enjoy a bath with views of the fjord or unwind in the quiet room. In the evening, an exquisite dinner awaits you in our restaurant – local food with a modern twist, perhaps with a glass of wine as the sun slips behind the mountain peaks.

Program for the weekend

Day 1 – Arrival and fjord atmosphere

Check-in from 5:00 pm. At 7:00 pm we meet in the Lobby Bar for an introduction to the weekend’s program. The guides will present the weather and snow conditions and the current tour options. Afterwards, dinner is served in the restaurant.

Day 2 – First summit hike

After breakfast with panoramic views of the fjord, we go through safety routines and pack our backpacks for the day’s hike. The route is chosen according to the conditions – perhaps Geitfonnegga (1,452 m.a.s.l.) with its magnificent view over the Geirangerfjord?

Safe travel in the mountains, avalanche assessment and good hiking techniques will be key topics along the way. After the hike, you can unwind in the spa or sauna before dinner. Please note that spa visits must be booked in advance.

Day 3 – New summits and learning

Another summit tour takes us to a new area – perhaps Blåhornet or the mountains by Djupvatnet. We continue working on route choices and companion rescue. The afternoon is reserved for Union Spa before we meet for a farewell dinner in restaurant Fjorden.

Day 4 – Farewell tour and departure

After breakfast and check-out, we head out for a shorter walk in the nearby area – one last breath of fjord air and mountain views. We round off the weekend with coffee and cake at the hotel before departure at 3:00 p.m.
